NGS Guides are the life force of the Next Generation of Service (NGS) Movement, inspiring young people to chart rewarding career paths and to participate in a year of service. As a guide you are given the opportunity to:
- Connect with the next generation of the workforce as they make important career decisions
- Share your story and experience in service, as well as your experience in the working world
- Learn basic coaching techniques like guiding questions, meditation, and journaling
- Help to promote volunteer service action.
Time commitment: 1 year term.
We ask that you attend an orientation and hold 2 guidance sessions per month (24 sessions in the year), total time commitment is approximately 3 hours/month.
Place: NGS headquarters are located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Guidance sessions are held remotely via internet video conferencing and guides can reside anywhere with a reliable internet connection.
Requirements: NGS guides should possess natural mentorship abilities or strong willingness to be trained; be dependable, responsive to email, passionate about service, willing to learn about long-term volunteer programs, alumni of AmeriCorps, Peace Corps or similar programs preferred (other significant experience in a volunteer (or stipend) role accepted).
